Iswarya Fertility Center Bags $37 Million Funding, Eyes Underserved Markets

Chennai's Iswarya Fertility Center has raised $37 million from OrbiMed Asia and plans to use the funds to expand into underserved parts of India.

Chennai’s Iswarya Fertility Center has closed a funding round worth about $37 million, roughly Rs 350 crore, led by global healthcare investment firm OrbiMed Asia. The company says the round counts among the largest growth investments made in India’s IVF sector.

The plan for the new capital centres on reaching parts of India that currently have limited access to fertility care. Iswarya, which already runs over 85 centres across eight states, intends to open new locations in underserved markets alongside its existing hubs, while also upgrading clinical infrastructure and digital systems.

Managing director Arun Muthuvel framed the round as the starting point for the company’s next growth phase. ‘Our focus over the next phase is to deepen our pan-India presence, enter underserved geographies and keep raising the bar on clinical outcomes,’ he said, adding that the company would invest in its people, technology and patient experience.

A portion of the funding will also go toward expanding Iswarya’s embryology talent pipeline. Veda Corporate Advisors was the financial adviser on the transaction; its managing director, VP Rajan, said the deal ‘drew strong interest from marquee investors.’

The investment reflects growing investor confidence in India’s fertility services market, where demand has been expanding beyond metro cities into tier-2 and tier-3 regions.
