AppleCare+ Just Got Pricier: What Mac and iPad Buyers Now Pay

Apple has adjusted AppleCare+ pricing upward for new Mac and iPad purchases, adding to a stretch of price increases across its product lineup. Current AppleCare+ subscribers are not affected and will keep their existing rates.

Under the new pricing, monthly AppleCare+ plans cost $0.50 more and annual plans cost $5 more across eligible Mac and iPad models. The 13-inch MacBook Air’s monthly plan, for instance, has risen from $7.49 to $7.99, with the annual option moving from $74.99 to $79.99. The MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Mac Studio, iMac, the standard iPad, the M4 and M5 iPad Pro, and the iPad mini all carry similar adjustments.

The change lands weeks after Apple raised prices on Macs, iPads, Vision Pro, HomePod, and Apple TV units by amounts ranging from $100 to $1,300, while notably keeping the iPhone 17 lineup’s pricing untouched.

Apple paired the iPad price increase with a new three-year carrier financing option for cellular iPad models, allowing buyers to spread payments across 36 months rather than the Apple Card’s standard 12-month plan.

A Bloomberg report attributes the broader round of increases to higher component costs driven by a global memory shortage, as demand for DRAM and NAND chips from AI companies drives prices up industry-wide. Apple has not officially connected the AppleCare+ increase to that shortage, though it follows the same timeline as its other recent price changes.
