Nvidia plans to deploy AI agents across every business function, CEO Jensen Huang says

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has said the company plans to deploy AI agents across its different business functions to improve productivity, part of a broader shift he says is already changing how the company’s software engineers work.

Speaking in an interview published by Nvidia, Huang said several of the company’s engineers are spending less time writing Python code and more time developing AI agents, focusing on agentic systems, benchmarks and guardrails rather than routine coding tasks. ‘These agentic systems are new skills, and now we have a lot of software engineers building agents,’ he said.

Huang said AI is reducing the amount of manual coding engineers perform, with engineers now designing systems that automate repetitive tasks rather than writing code line by line. ‘You’re taking all the mundane work, and you’re trying to get this agent to do it. That requires imagination, that requires creativity, a lot of technology,’ he said.

According to Huang, this shift is creating new kinds of work rather than simply replacing existing jobs, with AI agents designed to break complex tasks into smaller steps, each handling a specific function toward a broader objective. ‘The amount of work that we have to do to bring AI into the world is really quite incredible. So it’s creating a whole bunch of jobs. And, my software engineers love this,’ he said.

Huang has argued that AI is creating new employment opportunities alongside changes in the nature of software engineering work, a position that differs from concerns raised by some other technology leaders about AI’s impact on white-collar jobs.
