Chennai-Bengaluru train services hit by South Western Railway short-terminations
South Western Railway will short-terminate several Chennai-Bengaluru train services at Katpadi over multiple dates in July 2026 for engineering works.
South Western Railway has announced that several train services between Dr. MGR Chennai Central and KSR Bengaluru will be short-terminated at Katpadi on multiple dates in July 2026, to allow engineering works to be carried out safely, according to a press release from Chief Public Relations Officer Dr. Manjunath Kanamadi in Hubballi.
On 10, 12, 15, 17, 19 and 22 July 2026, Train No. 16552 Ashokapuram–Dr. MGR Chennai Central Express will be partially cancelled between Katpadi and Dr. MGR Chennai Central, short-terminating at Katpadi instead of continuing to Chennai. On the same dates, Train No. 12607 Dr. MGR Chennai Central–KSR Bengaluru Lalbagh Express will be partially cancelled between Dr. MGR Chennai Central and Katpadi, originating from Katpadi instead of Chennai Central.
Separately, South Western Railway said Train No. 66550 KSR Bengaluru–Jolarpettai MEMU and Train No. 66549 Jolarpettai–KSR Bengaluru MEMU will be partially cancelled on 14 July 2026 between Somanayakkanpatti and Jolarpettai, with services short-terminating or originating at Somanayakkanpatti instead.
The railway said the cancellations were necessary to facilitate the safe execution of engineering works along the affected routes.
