Google Cloud And TCS Open Third AI Innovation Hub In India

Google Cloud’s India director of partnerships, Shivir Chordia, says the company’s collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services is now delivering faster results for clients, as the two companies open their third joint AI lab in India, this time in Kolkata. ‘Together with TCS, we are seeing how differentiated industry solutions built with Gemini are helping customers realise business value faster,’ he said.

The new facility is a Consumer Business Group Gemini Experience Centre (GEC), built specifically for consumer-facing companies that want to co-create and test AI tools using Google’s Gemini models before rolling them out more broadly. Chordia called the Kolkata launch ‘a crucial step in accelerating agentic AI adoption.’

Kolkata joins Chennai and Bengaluru as host cities for this format: TCS already runs a Retail Innovation Lab in Chennai and a BFSI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru, each built around a specific industry rather than as a generic showcase space.

TCS plans to keep expanding this network quickly. The company says it will open 10 Gemini Experience Centres globally by the end of 2026, 4 of them in India, as part of a wider strategy of leaning on hyperscaler partnerships to navigate what it calls the next phase of AI-enabled transformation.

Murali Ramanathan, CTO of TCS’s consumer business group, said the Kolkata centre reflects that commitment directly, describing it as a space meant to help enterprises ‘move from pilots to enterprise-scale adoption’ of AI.
