Meta just gave developers $20 in free credits to try its newest AI model

Meta originally debuted the baseline version of Muse Spark in April, using a private preview to test the Application Programming Interface (API) with select corporate partners. Starting Thursday, software developers based in the US can officially access the upgraded Muse Spark 1.1 in a public preview format on the Meta Model API platform — and Meta is sweetening the deal for early adopters.

To encourage sign-ups, the company is giving anyone who registers $20 in free trial credits before switching them to a pay-as-you-go pricing model. The launch marks Meta’s first commercial API offering built around Muse Spark, a model the company is positioning as its strongest yet for agentic performance, tool use and computer use.

According to Meta, Muse Spark 1.1 does well on long-running tasks thanks to a 1M token context window, can delegate execution to sub-agents running in parallel, and is trained to use computer interfaces across desktop, mobile and browser environments. The company says the model can write and debug software code, navigate external applications, analyse text, images and video simultaneously, and execute multi-step logic workflows with very little human supervision.

The announcement came via an unusual channel: CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted about the launch on X, formerly Twitter, ending a three-year silence on the platform. “Today we’re releasing Muse Spark 1.1 — a strong agentic and coding model at a very low price,” Zuckerberg wrote, adding that “more” was “to come soon.”
