Pankaj Singh reviews AI training lab as Delhi’s AI centres take shape

Delhi IT Minister Pankaj Singh reviewed an AI IT training lab at Vikas Bhawan II on Wednesday, alongside the city’s newly approved AI Centres of Excellence (AICoE) project, according to a statement from the Delhi IT Department. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has granted administrative approval for AICoE facilities at Netaji Subhash University of Technology (NSUT) and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

Officials told Singh that the AI IT training lab, designed to build the digital capabilities of government employees through structured training in IT and e-governance systems, is fully ready, with course content and AI-based learning applications currently under development. The facility is expected to become fully operational within a month.

The AICoE initiative, backed by a joint funding model involving MeitY, the Delhi government and industry partners, aims to support around 90-100 startups, train 6,000-7,000 individuals and generate more than 1,000 employment opportunities.

Singh said the project would improve governance and service delivery while creating new opportunities for startups, industry, researchers and young professionals.
